Body Image
Reconnecting with a body that has felt like an enemy, a stranger, or a project.
Body image work here is not about learning to "love your body" on command. It's about understanding why your relationship with your body became the way it did — and discovering that a different relationship becomes possible.
What this can look like
It's rarely only about the mirror.
Body image struggles often show up as:
- Avoiding photos, mirrors, intimacy, or ordinary daily life.
- Feeling like your body isn't yours — or that it belongs to everyone else's opinions.
- A running commentary that never quite stops.
- Numbness, dissociation, or a sense of watching yourself from outside.
How we work
From the inside out.
We don't do appearance talk. We work with the felt sense — what happens in your body, what the story is underneath, what parts of you have been protecting you. Somatic therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Internal Family Systems all live naturally here.
Healing happens when we feel safe enough to reconnect with ourselves.
Common questions
What people ask.
- Is body image work the same as eating disorder work?
- They overlap, but they're not the same. You can struggle with body image without an eating disorder, and vice versa. We'll follow what's actually alive for you.
- I don't want to talk about my body in appearance terms. Is that okay?
- More than okay — that's how I work. We stay with the felt sense and the story, not the mirror.
- Can trauma cause body image struggles?
- Very often, yes. Body image is deeply entangled with safety, sensation, and how the body remembers what has happened to it.
