Your Free Consultation

Before you commit to anything, we talk. A brief, low-pressure telehealth conversation to see whether working together feels right.

Reaching out to a therapist can take a lot. You might be wondering whether your concerns are big enough, whether you'll know what to say, or whether this is the right person to trust with your story. The free consultation exists so you don't have to figure all of that out alone, or in advance.

All new clients at Brave Embers Wellness begin with a free initial telehealth consultation before booking a full session. It's a short conversation about fit, focus, and fees, and there's no obligation to continue.

What it is

A conversation, not an intake.

Think of the consultation as two people getting a feel for each other. You can share, in broad strokes, what's bringing you in and what you're hoping for. I can tell you a little about how I work, what sessions are like, and whether your needs fit my practice.

You don't need to share details of painful experiences. A sentence or two about what you're looking for is plenty. We'll save the deeper work for when, and if, we decide to begin.

Questions to bring

It's your interview too.

Finding the right therapist matters, and it's completely okay to ask questions. You might want to know:

  • How I approach trauma, eating disorders, or the concern you're carrying.
  • What pacing looks like, and how much say you'll have in it.
  • Whether in-person sessions in Doylestown or telehealth would suit you better.
  • Fees, private pay, and out-of-network reimbursement options.
  • Whether a ten-week group or a private intensive might be a fit later on.

If you're still thinking about what makes a good match, the guide on how to choose a trauma therapist offers a few more ideas.

Fees and logistics

Clear answers before you start.

Brave Embers Wellness is primarily a private-pay practice. Sessions are $175 for 60 minutes, and the rates page explains the details, including how I partner with Thrizer to help with out-of-network reimbursement. The consultation is a good time to ask about anything that's still unclear.

The consultation itself happens by telehealth. If we decide to work together, ongoing sessions can be in person at my Doylestown office or by secure video. Not sure which you'd prefer? This guide to telehealth or in-person therapy walks through the differences.

I work with adults 21 and older who are located in Pennsylvania or Arizona.

How to book

Two easy ways to reach out.

You can book a consultation directly and choose a time that works for you. Or, if you'd rather start with a note, send a short message through the contact page and I'll respond within two business days.

Please keep that message brief. The contact form isn't a secure or confidential channel, so save personal details for our conversation.

After the consultation

What happens next.

If it feels like a good fit, we'll schedule your first full session. Those early sessions focus on orientation: who you are, what you're hoping for, what you've tried before, and the resources already present in your life. You can read more about individual therapy and what it looks like over time.

If it isn't the right fit, that's useful to know too, and there's no pressure either way. You're welcome to learn more about me before you decide.

Common questions

What people ask.

Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The initial consultation is free, and there's no obligation to book a full session afterward. It's simply a chance to talk about fit, focus, and fees before you decide anything.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Not really. It can help to think about what's bringing you in and what you'd like to be different, but you don't need a polished story. Find a private spot where you can talk freely, and bring any questions you have.
Does the consultation happen by video?
Yes, the free consultation takes place by telehealth. If we decide to work together, you can choose in-person sessions at the Doylestown office or continue by secure video, depending on what works for you.
What if I'm not sure therapy is for me?
That's a perfectly good reason to book a consultation. You can ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide afterward. Feeling unsure is normal, and it doesn't have to be resolved before we talk.
