Approach
Safe and Sound Protocol
A listening-based intervention grounded in Polyvagal Theory, designed to invite the nervous system toward safety.
What it is
Sound as a doorway to regulation.
SSP uses specially filtered music to cue the social engagement system — the part of the nervous system that lets us feel safe with ourselves and with other people.
How we use it
Slowly, and always with support.
SSP is delivered in a paced, structured way alongside our therapy. Lauren is a Certified SSP Provider, and we'd only use it when it's clearly a fit for where you are.
Common questions
What people ask.
- What does it actually involve?
- Listening to specially filtered music over a set number of sessions, in a supported, paced way. It's designed to gently cue a sense of safety in the nervous system.
- Is SSP the whole treatment?
- No. SSP is an adjunct — it sits inside our ongoing therapy, not in place of it.
