Experiential Group · Small Closed Cohort

Free To Be: A 10-Week Eating Disorder Group

Safe. Seen. Heard. And loved. A ten-week experiential process for adults whose relationship with food and their body has become a way of coping.

Eating disorders tend to thrive in secrecy and isolation. Free To Be is a small, closed group where adults can explore their relationship with food and their bodies alongside others doing the same work, in a space meant to feel safe, seen, heard, and loved.

It's an experiential group, which means we don't only talk about what's happening. We use practices that let you show and feel it, so your body and nervous system get to participate in the healing. Free To Be is one of my two ten-week experiential groups.

The heart of it

When food becomes a way to cope.

Free To Be explores how eating disorder behaviors and body image struggles serve as indirect coping: imperfect ways of trying to stay safe, manage overwhelming feelings, or find some sense of control. Rather than fighting those patterns head-on, we make room for what's underneath them.

This reflects how I approach eating disorders in individual work, too. The behaviors start to make sense once we understand what they've been protecting.

Across ten weeks

Themes we explore together.

Each cohort moves through a set of themes over the ten weeks, including:

  • Confronting the Dysmorphic Mirror, and the distorted ways we can come to see our own bodies.
  • Facing Shame and Its Origins, tracing shame back toward where it began, with compassion.
  • Showing up with curiosity and compassion for the "emotional terrorist," the part that has been shouting to protect you.
  • Creating a relapse-prevention plan you'll actually use.

These themes are explored through experiential practices as well as conversation, so the work reaches beyond insight.

How the group works

Small, closed, and by secure video.

Free To Be is a closed group, so the same small cohort moves through all ten weeks together. That consistency is what allows trust to build. Groups meet by secure video for participants located in Pennsylvania and Arizona.

You're never put on the spot. Participation is always invited, never required, and you can share as much or as little as feels right. Hearing others name experiences like your own can ease the loneliness that shame creates.

If you're also curious about trauma work in a group setting, Braving You is my ten-week experiential trauma processing group.

Equity-based pricing

Three tiers, the same care.

Free To Be uses equity-based pricing with three self-selected tiers: Rebalancing Access ($60), Fair Access ($50), and Supported Access ($40). Everyone in the group receives the same care. You choose the tier that honestly reflects your resources, which helps the group stay open to people in many different financial situations.

Rebalancing Access is for those with substantial resources who want to help fund access for others. Fair Access is for those who can cover their own participation. Supported Access is for those with limited resources.

Joining

Groups form as interest gathers.

Rather than running on a fixed calendar, cohorts open when a small group is ready to begin together. To join the interest list, use the booking page, or send a message to ask about the next group, fit, or anything else on your mind.

Being in individual therapy at the same time isn't required, and we can talk about whether the group fits where you are. If you'd also like one-on-one support, trauma-focused eating disorder therapy is available in person in Doylestown or by telehealth.

Common questions

What people ask.

Who is Free To Be for?
Free To Be is for adults 21 and older who are navigating an eating disorder, disordered eating, or body image struggles and want to explore them alongside others. You don't need a formal diagnosis, and we can talk about fit before you join.
Do I have to share in front of the group?
No. You're never put on the spot, and participation is always invited rather than required. Some people share a lot, while others mostly listen at first, and both are welcome.
Is the group in person or online?
Free To Be meets by secure video, so you can join from a private space where you feel settled. Because it's a closed group, the same participants stay together for all ten weeks.
When does the next group start?
Groups form periodically as interest gathers rather than on a fixed schedule. Join the interest list or send a message, and you'll hear about the next start date, fit, and any questions you have.
